Will I become liable for his back taxes if I get married?
If I marry someone who owes significant back taxes, will I become liable? I am thinking about marrying my boyfriend but he does not have a good financial record. I am scared that the IRS will come after me.

You should not be held liable for any of your spouses back taxes that were incurred prior to the date of your marriage. However, you may consider ensuring that he gets these issues resolved prior to getting married so that you can ensure that your new life together starts off on the right foot.
